Smiling is a natural reflex that we all do. It’s something that can’t be helped. When you think about it, smiling has many benefits. Smiling releases endorphins, serotonin, and other painkillers in the body, making us feel good while also making others around us smile. For these reasons, there are plenty of great reasons to smile more often!

Here are 3 reasons we should smile more!

  1. Smiling is contagious – when you smile, your body releases dopamine and serotonin, which can make you feel happy too. When you smile, others around you will naturally begin to do the same. Every time we see someone else smile, it’s almost like a good mood is being passed along, and that can help make everyone feel better! This also applies when we’re on social media – since seeing people’s happy posts might put us in a happier mood too.
  2. When we smile, we are more approachable and seem friendlier than people who aren’t smiling. When we smile, people can sense that we are happy and will want to be around us. Even if you don’t want to talk to someone, it feels good when they say hello.
  3. A smile can make a bad day better! It’s hard not to be in a good mood after seeing someone else smile. How often have things not gone our way, but someone looks over and gives you a genuine smile, and you instantly felt a little better? It is such a simple thing to do. While it makes others happy, we are the ones who benefit from this simple and yet powerful gesture.
