Beating Laziness

We all know the feeling. The one that makes us want to take a nap on the couch or eat an entire plate of cookies instead of tackling the to-do list sitting in front of us. Many factors can cause laziness, and it’s not something anyone likes to deal with. But if we don’t learn how to beat laziness, our lives will never grow beyond mediocrity.

Yet despite the best intentions of many, laziness is something that often wins out. It’s a cat-and-mouse game we play with ourselves for years on end. But it doesn’t have to be this way!

Accomplish more each day and beat laziness…

Push Ourselves

One of the most complex parts of working out is getting started. Feel like you have no willpower to push yourself? Use this trick: start with five minutes, then remember how good it feels! Once those first few minutes are over and done with, our body will be full of endorphins and adrenaline; these hormones make us want to continue moving.

It’s not always easy to make a change, but it can be just that simple. If we find the thought of starting something overwhelming and intimidating for some reason, then start with one minute at first! Even if all we do is commit ourselves to stay in shape by walking up 20 flights of stairs over the next couple of weeks, keep going until there are no more steps left on our staircase – we’re sure every effort will get easier as time goes on.

Take a quick break

Now this may sound counter-intuitive, but the key to productivity is taking breaks. Take a quick break about every 25-30 minutes and then focus with all our might on work for those 25-30 minute periods of time in between. As a result, we’ll see an increase in efficiency because we won’t be overworked or tired when it comes to crunch time!

I know that it sounds like I’m going against everything we’ve been told up until this point; however, frequent short breaks are essential if we want to stay productive throughout the day.

Positive Head Space

Change our inner dialogue and start saying positive things about the task at hand. Negative talk will only stall you from achieving anything in life, so get creative. We should imagine our inner voice as a coach. They’re only there to help us grow and progress towards success, so be sure to listen up.

Straighten Up

Stand up straight! You know how our mom always told us to sit up tall and proud? Slouching doesn’t just make it more difficult for people around us to carry on a conversation. It may also affect the way others perceive us. How we feel about ourselves is directly related to what other people think of our posture, so stand proudly today with good head position and spine alignment! Hold that head up high.

What Are The Benefits

If we’re feeling discouraged about a task, remember the benefits. Will it keep our job? Get us a date? Make for an oddly manicured lawn that neighborhood kids will be too afraid to cross into? If so, then get started on it before other thoughts distract us from these more enticing possibilities!

Reward Ourselves

Go ahead, and it’s ok to reward ourselves for our work. However, when we get everything accomplished, we should do something enjoyable. Maybe we meet up with some friends for a night out or hang with our other half for dinner and a movie.

Closing Out

Laziness is a common dilemma that arises when the motivation to complete tasks is low. There are many reasons for this, but the cause doesn’t matter. Instead, choose some strategies that we think will work and put them into action in our day-to-day life! We will be pleasantly surprised by how things change with just one small change or effort on our part!
